Davey Edwards named President-Elect of NSPS

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS - Davey Edwards, an alumnus of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and educator with the university’s College of Engineering, has been named President-Elect of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).

NSPS advocates for the professional surveying community, communicating with lawmakers, agencies, and regulators at both the national and state level about the potential impacts legislation, regulation, and policies have on NSPS members and their clients.

Edwards received his Master of Science in Geospatial Systems Engineering from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and recently served as the Director of the Texas Spatial Reference Center at the Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science. He is a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) and Licensed State Land Surveyor (LSLS) in Texas, a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Oklahoma and a U.S. certified Federal land surveyor.

In addition to his surveying credentials, Edwards is also a past president of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors (TSPS). He is the 4th surveyor from Texas to serve as NSPS President, and the 2nd surveyor to assume the role after having served as TSPS president and on the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying.

“Davey possesses a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the surveying profession,” said Dr. Rick Smith, Executive Director for the Conrad Blucher Institute. “We’ve no doubt he will continue to be a strong surveying advocate and representative and are grateful for all he’s done to educate and inspire others.”

Edwards will be sworn into office at the Spring NSPS Business Meeting in March 2023.
