The Conrad Blucher Institute is pleased to welcome two new staff members:
Roe Cantu joins CBI as the new Project Coordinator for Research Operations. Under the supervision of Devon Steffan, Roe will support the Research Operations team by coordinating and tracking project deliverables, acting as a liaison, preparing reports, and managing tasks associated with project-related travel and purchases.
Roe earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Professional and Technical Writing and has served in project coordinating and administrative roles on the TAMU-CC campus for nearly 10 years, having previously worked in the Office of the Dean of University Libraries, University College, and the College of Science and Engineering Academic Advising Center.
Previously, Roe Cantu served on active duty in the United States Army while stationed at Fort Bragg (since renamed Fort Liberty), North Carolina. She spent time in the 82nd Airborne Division as well as in a military information support unit (4th POG) and is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom with two tours in Afghanistan. She is a graduate of the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Basic Airborne Course, and the Primary Leadership Development Course. As a Non-Commissioned Officer, Sergeant Cantu filled multiple roles including project coordinating responsibilities as Product Development Detachment Team Leader while supporting CJSOTF-A overseas. Additional roles included inventory accountability and administrative responsibilities in headquarters as the Company Training and Readiness NCO.
Edgar De La Garza joins CBI as its new Marketing Coordinator. Under the supervision of Gina Concannon, Edgar will support engagement with internal and external collaborators and develop visual assets, including photos, videos, and graphics, to strengthen CBI’s education, outreach, and marketing initiatives.
Edgar is a seasoned visual artist and marketing professional with over 8 years of experience in higher education. With a background in photography, he developed strong storytelling skills collaborating with various local entities.
Edgar leverages his expertise to craft and implement engaging marketing strategies. Fueled by the institute’s commitment to excellence in geospatial science and technology, he channels his creativity to promote impactful initiatives within the community.
Outside of his professional role, Edgar is passionate about tinkering with the latest tech, exploring nature through birding, and enjoying the serenity of walking trails. These pursuits not only inspire his creativity but also reflect his deep connection to both technology and the natural world.
Roe and Edgar bring a wealth of experience in their respective areas, and CBI is thrilled to have them join the team.
