Ms. Deidre D. Williams is a Coastal Research Scientist at CBI. The focus of her research is trend analysis of change occurring at inlet and beach systems along developed segments of the Texas coast. This includes both Bayshore and Gulf facing beaches. Over a 25-year career, Deidre has developed and led three large scale monitoring programs 1) The Packery Channel Monitoring Program (2003-2022), 2) The Coastal Erosion Planning and Response Act (CERPRA) Beach Monitoring Program (2007-2022), and 3) The Nueces County Beach and Coastal Habitat Monitoring Program (2020-2022), in addition to other short-term focused monitoring and research efforts. Along with research and analysis these monitoring programs have produced guidance reports for the sponsors, the City of Corpus Christi, the Texas General Land Office and Nueces County Coastal Parks Dept, respectfully.

Deidre’s research focuses on tracking temporal change in beach and inlet system morphology and volume for the purpose of supporting resource managers in making informed management decisions related to beach nourishment, channel dredging, permit concerns, and forward planning to improve management practice that support coastal resiliency. Trend analysis of changes in morphology is at the core of research stimulated by these monitoring efforts. In addition, Deidre provides research opportunities through these rich data sets for students and provides data for online viewing for the community and beyond through the Coastal Habitat GIS (CHRGIS) online resource (sponsored by the TGLO since 2001).
