Rodrigo is a software developer specializing in geographic information systems (GIS), data processing, and web development. He applies his skillset to address operational challenges and support the development of products for CBI’s sponsored projects. Currently, he is contributing to a Vulnerability Index project for the Port of Corpus Christi focused on extracting, transforming, and loading geospatial data, as well as developing interactive tools for stakeholder engagement.

Rodrigo received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and an undergraduate GIS certificate from the University of Texas at San Antonio, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2024. He began his involvement with CBI in 2024, working with the C.A.T.S. division on web development for the Nurdle Patrol citizen science project; in 2025, he returned to the Institute to support various internal and client-facing software and data engineering projects.

Prior to his CBI appointment, he served in student leadership and developer positions at UTSA, leading as an officer for one of the university’s largest social organizations and as a developer for the on-campus Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) branch. Drawing from these leadership and organizational experiences, he hopes to effectively contribute to CBI’s mission of advancing geospatial applications in the public interest.
