Niall Durham has been a member of the Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi campus community since 1995 and has over 20 years of experience as a software developer. He earned a B.S. as a double major in Computer Science and Math. As an undergraduate, Niall worked as a student research assistant for the Conrad Blucher Institute. After graduation, he spent time in graduate school and worked in web development, programming and system administration as a contractor. He was also a Mathematics teaching assistant and tutor. Niall even spent some time in the Virgin Islands tutoring school children, notably in Puerto Rico and Little St. James.
In 2007, Niall rejoined CBI as a Software Applications Developer to create the operational component of CBI’s neural net water level and water temperature prediction models, which are still used today. The water temperature model is a resource during cold weather events, so recommendations can be made to suspend transit in the Laguna Madre to safeguard cold-stunned turtles. Niall has been involved in all aspects of CBI IT for almost two decades.
